Our Community
Donaldson Coal believes that building strong relationships, based on mutual trust and respect, with the communities in which it operates is a cornerstone of the company’s success. This belief is reflected in Donaldson’s commitment to its community consultative committees, to its support for a number of independent Trusts with specific objectives, and its actions at a grassroots level to give individuals and worthy causes a helping hand.
From its inception, Donaldson Coal has made a commitment to support vital programs to address issues such as skill shortages and unemployment, education and the environment in local lower Hunter communities. To ensure this commitment is properly administered, the company has set up a number of Trusts, and allocating funds to allow them to take the initiative – helping groups achieve their aspirations. The Donaldson Job Creation Trust is designed to fund programs to help generate employment in the Hunter region. The Donaldson Conservation Trust funds environmental initiatives, and the Donaldson Community Trust helps local communities achieve their objectives.
The company understands the importance of being an environmentally responsible and pro-active corporate citizen and demonstrates this belief through its adherence to the highest environmental standards. Donaldson aims to create a sustainable future not only for its business, but for the environment that supports it. Community Consultative Committees (CCCs) for all operations are chaired by the Hon. Milton Morris. The Committees include company, community and local Council representatives. The Donaldson CCC also has a representative from the Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Lands Council.
