Donaldson Coal was established in Australia in 1996. Its three operations are located 5 km south east of Maitland in the Newcastle Coalfield, adjacent to the Bloomfield rail loop and approximately 25 km from the Port of Newcastle in New South Wales.

Donaldson Coal is a fast-growing innovative coal mining company with operations located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Over the last few years the company has shifted its focus to the development of underground coal mines.
Donaldson Coal has access to significant coal deposits. The company operates Donaldson Open Cut Mine, the Tasman Underground Mine and is establishing the Abel Underground Mine.
